Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Traits and identification
Upright ears with rounded tips, a fox-like head and a long, low body are characteristic. The legs are short and the coat has an underlayer. These visual features are clues, not proof of pedigree. 1
Origin and history
Pembrokes worked on Welsh farms, helping move cattle and performing other farmyard tasks. The Pembroke and Cardigan were once shown together, but British recognition as separate breeds came in 1934. They are distinct breeds, not coat varieties of one dog. 2
Coats and sizes
The AKC standard includes red, sable, fawn and black-and-tan, with white markings allowed. Our portraits show red-and-white and tricolour examples. The medium-length double coat adds volume around the neck and body. 1
A note on size
The AKC shoulder-height reference is 10–12 inches. A low height does not mean a narrow chest or short back. Measure chest, neck and back length and check hem clearance before choosing clothing. 1
Colour and couture
Consider the coloured back and white chest together. The long, low outline also deserves attention: colour inspiration is not a fit guarantee. Discuss suitability if the product measurements do not match your dog's proportions.
